First time for Fire Service at Dilwyn Show

in News

The show takes place on Monday 2 May (the first Bank Holiday in May) from 10am at Fields Place Meadow in Dilwyn and the Fire Service will be there until around 5pm, although evening entertainment continues later than this.

Pete Hope, Community Safety Advisor with H&WFRS, said "This is a fantastic event and we're looking forward to being part of it for the first time this year.

"We'll be taking along the smoke house to the event, which we hope will interest visitors, and we are also hoping to raise awareness about a range of safety issues throughout the day, with all sorts of information available that people can pick up and read later."

He added: "While our general advice on having a working smoke alarms fitted in the home is applicable to everyone, we recognise that people living in more rural communities can face different risks and we'll make sure we have relevant safety literature with us. This could be highlighting what people can do to protect themselves from the risk of flooding or from the risk of a chimney fire if they have an open fire or a woodburner in the home."
