There are just over two weeks left for organisations to have their say on proposed changes to the way Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (H&WFRS) attends Automatic Fire Alarm calls. The Service has reviewed its response to Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) call-outs as around 95% of these turn out to be false alarms.

Gas Leak in Evesham

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to Mill Street in Evesham shortly after 2:00am on Sunday 23 October after an observant off-duty fire control operator noticed a gas leak shortly after a car had hit an external gas mains.

Driver Trapped Following Collision in Barnt Green

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to a road traffic collision on Bittell Road, Barnt Green, following an incident involving two vehicles which left a driver trapped.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to Evesham Leisure Centre shortly after 7:30am on Saturday 22nd October following reports of flooding in a basement plant room.

Gas Bottle Fire in North Worcestershire Factory

As firefighters from Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Redditch and Northfield arrived on scene and assessed the situation it was established that the gas cylinder contained propane which is a less volatile gas.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire which was made more challenging due to the cylinder being located 4 metres high in the cage of a cherry picker.
Crews spent approximately two hours at the scene and left the scene around midday.
