Flooding and Driving Advice for Motorists

With the recent thaw and further rain forecast, motorists across the region are being urged to take care and exercise caution on areas of road that may be affected by flooding. Localised flooding is present in some places and a number of flood warnings are still in place by the Environment Agency, which could affect normal driving routes across the region.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to the Barnardo’s charity shop in Broad Street in Ross-on-Wye at 11.10pm on Friday night (25 January) following reports of a fire at the premises.

Firefighters were called to a farm in Rochford, near Tenbury Wells, just after 6am yesterday morning (Sunday 27 January) following reports of a tractor on fire.

Motorists Warned of Icy Roads

The Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia is reminding motorists to continue to take extra care on the roads over the next few days as temperatures stay low and many roads remain icy and slippery. The Met Office has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning of ice for Tuesday (22nd January). As temperatures fall below freezing overnight, icy stretches are likely on untreated surfaces – especially in areas where any further sleet, snow or rain has fallen.
