  • Flat fire in Hereford

    Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire in a flat above a shop on Whitecross Road, Hereford at 02:35 on Tuesday morning (30th June). Four fire appliances from Hereford (2), Fownhope and Ewyas Harold were deployed to the incident and on arrival fire fighters were faced with a severe fire that had engulfed the first floor flat and the roof.

  • Fire service incidents attended in 2014-15 are the lowest ever recorded

    At the quarterly meeting on 17th June, Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority received its Annual Performance Report which revealed that the number of fire service incidents attended within Herefordshire and Worcestershire has continued to fall, with last year's 6,112 incidents being the lowest the Service has recorded since records began. There has been a 25 percent fall in incidents since 2010-11 with the Service responding to 3,000 fewer incidents than it did just over ten years ago.

  • Metal recycling centre fire

    Friday 19 June 2015

    Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire at a metal recycling centre on Blackpole Trading Estate West at 20.34 on Tuesday (16th June). Six fire appliances from Worcester, Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Upton were deployed to the incident, supported by a specialist foam unit, water carrier, environmental protection unit, aerial appliance and a hazardous materials officer.

  • Finalists are announced after HWFRS host the final task of the LG Challenge

    On 3rd and 4th June 2015, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) hosted the final task of the Local Government Challenge. The contestants, who are aspiring future local government chief executives, arrived in Worcester to face the judges and compete to win a £10,000 scholarship.

  • Farm building fire

    Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to a fire at a farm in Breinton, Hereford at 18.54 on Friday (5th June). Six fire appliances from Hereford, Fownhope, Eardisley and Peterchurch, were deployed to the incident, supported by two water carriers, an environmental protection unit, command support unit and a hazardous materials officer.
