Sonja Sinclair-Elechi, from Worcester, has worked for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) for 20 years and will receive a Jubilee Award on Thursday (30 July) for her outstanding service in the public sector. The Jubilee Awards for Service aim to recognise individuals from the public sector who regularly go above and beyond their usual duties and who have made a significant impact on the lives of others

On-call firefighters are men and women from all walks of life, from teachers to shopkeepers to company directors and builders.They help serve and protect their local community by responding to emergencies when they are needed. Many employers from around the two counties allow their staff to be on-call and have found there to be many benefits in doing so.

Private landlords face major new law change

Private landlords will have to fit working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their properties following a change in the law due to be introduced in October. The new regulations will require landlords to install smoke alarms on every floor of their property and test them at the start of every tenancy.

Firefighters from Bromsgrove Fire Station will feature on the BBC TV show, Close Calls on Camera, on Monday. The programme features people who have come into close contact with danger but, through the work the emergency services, have been rescued from a potentially life threatening situation.

Bromsgrove Partnership supports vulnerable families through its Sunrise Project

The Bromsgrove Partnership, a consortium that aims to deliver the best services for local people, is celebrating the success of a project set up last year to transform the lives of vulnerable people in Bromsgrove. Since its launch in March 2014, the Sunrise Project has enabled more than 31 families and individuals to build a better future.
