Avoid driving if possible. If you must travel:

• Use dipped headlights.

• Accelerate gently, keep low revs, and change to higher gears quickly.

• Start in second gear to reduce wheel slip.

• Maintain a steady speed and safe distance.

• Use low gear downhill; avoid harsh braking.

• If you skid, steer into it and keep hands on the wheel.

Check on older or vulnerable people for food and medical needs. If worried about health, call NHS 111.
