Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service recently joined partners from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) at the Worcestershire Farm Safety Morning at Overbury, supporting farm safety education and business engagement across the rural community.
The event brought together firefighters, protection staff and agricultural professionals to engage directly with farmers and rural businesses. Colleagues showcased specialist capabilities, including animal rescue and off-road response vehicles, while sharing advice on farm fire prevention, risk reduction, agricultural worker accommodation, accurate NAMOS (Notification and Marking of Sites) information, emergency preparedness and seasonal weather impacts.
Representing HWFRS were:
- Bromyard Animal Rescue Team
- Malvern crews with Land Rover and Argo Cat capabilities and Group Commander Dave Hill
- Protection team and Group Commander Deb Davies
Throughout the morning, teams discussed farm fire prevention, machinery risks, water safety, animal rescue and responding to incidents in remote rural locations.
The NFU provided positive feedback following the event, highlighting the value of Fire and Rescue Service involvement and the team’s professionalism and engagement. Farmers reported gaining practical advice and actions to improve safety and resilience on their farms.

“It is always useful to have the Fire and Rescue Service at these events. Everyone said they learned something from the event and hopefully, when they get back on farm, they will implement some of the things they learned.”
