Support staff
With more than 700 operational staff, the Service very much depends on its team of support staff who provide specialist professional, technical and administrative support services.
Support staff work in areas including finance, prevention, protection, communications, training, human resources, information technology and workshops.

Selection process
The selection process will include completion of an online application form, any job-related selection tests and an interview. All applicants will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to appointment, and will require a DBS check or Police vetting prior to start.
All appointments are made subject to a six-month probationary period. All staff have a minimum of 25 days annual leave, plus normal bank/public holidays, as well as working within a flexi-time system. The Service offers a variety of other leave such as paternity, adoption, shared parental and parental bereavement leave. The Service also offers an enhanced maternity leave provision, which consists of 26 weeks leave at full pay. Membership of the local government pension scheme is also open to employees.
