This week (19-23 January 2026) we are asking everyone across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to register their appliances.
We urge all households and businesses across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to register their machines, to ensure the manufacturer knows where to find them in case a free safety repair is ever needed.
Whether newly-purchased, long-installed or pre-loved, registration is vital for fire safety.
- Nearly a quarter (24%) of UK homeowners confessed they might not immediately hear about a recall on an appliance they own.
- One in five (20%) couldn’t remember if they had registered their large appliances
- less than half (46%) had registered all their major white goods.
Survey statistics provided by AMDEA by OnePoll
From dripping taps and over-flowing gutters, to unusually noisy washing machines or fridges, the vast majority (81%) of those polled agreed that putting off fixing issues could cause more problems or expense.
In the UK, homeowners account for almost two-thirds of all households and, unlike tenants, are solely responsible for their property and its administration. Appliances like washing machines, fridge freezers, ovens, and microwaves are in nearly every home, yet if they’re unregistered, tracing them for vital safety repairs is almost impossible.
Expert Advice
“Registering your appliances should be as routine as putting on a load of washing. It only takes a few minutes, but it could make all the difference in keeping you and your family safe. By registering, manufacturers can contact you quickly if there’s a safety issue – it’s a simple step that helps prevent fires and saves lives”

Recalls on home appliances are rare but issues with the equipment can develop over time and a simple, free in-home adjustment by a qualified engineer can ensure a longer and safer life for machines.
AMDEA’s Register My Appliance portal provides a quick and easy remedy offering online access to more than 70 leading brands, with most accepting registration of both new and older appliances.
