Dimensions: Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 body and cab.
Engine: Mercedes Diesel
Specialist information: The EPU carries a specially trained crew of four and provides specialist equipment to contain chemical spillages that could harm the environment and wildlife. This supports first-line fire engines, which carry environmental grab bags as standard.
This new unit has been partly funded by the Environment Agency and has been specially designed to include enhanced stowage and with the welfare of the crew in mind. It is based permanently at Wyre Forest Fire Station and called to respond to any incidents in Herefordshire and Worcestershire involving chemical or hazardous substances.
