Firefighters tackle blaze at Droitwich school

This morning (25 January) at approximately 01:45, firefighters from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire at St Joseph’s Primary School in Droitwich.

This morning (25 January) at approximately 01:45, firefighters from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire at St Joseph’s Primary School in Droitwich.

Over 30 firefighters tackled the significant fire using jets and compressed air foam, and crews will remain on the scene today.

Area Commander Ade Elliott said: “Upon arrival, our crews were faced with a single storey building that was well alight. Fortunately, the fire has now been brought under control by our firefighters.”

He continued: “We are still dealing with the incident and will remain at the scene today. I’d like to thank all of the emergency services and other agencies for their hard work throughout the night..”

Ambulance and Police also attended the incident and Ombersley Way was closed off, which is now open.

Fire investigation officers remain at the scene today and a fire investigation is underway to determine how the fire started.
