Travel Safety
Avoid driving if possible. If you must travel:
• Use dipped headlights.
• Accelerate gently, keep low revs, and change to higher gears quickly.
• Start in second gear to reduce wheel slip.
• Maintain a steady speed and safe distance.
• Use low gear downhill; avoid harsh braking.
• If you skid, steer into it and keep hands on the wheel.
Power Cut Preparation
Have torches, batteries, and a charged power pack ready.
If Isolated by Snow
• Keep heating consistent day and night.
• Turn off heaters and fires before bed.
• Keep pets warm.
• Prevent frozen pipes by opening cabinet doors.
• Stay indoors, wrap up, and close internal doors.
