Before joining the Fire and Rescue Service in 2014, Chris was a Submariner in the Royal Navy. This was a great introduction into the working world and gave him the determination and drive to progress in whatever career he chose.
Chris left the Royal Navy after 5 years and applied to join West Midlands Fire Service. He successfully achieved a post and joined the training school in January 2014.

Chris spent 9 years in West Midlands Fire Service, serving at Smethwick and Highgate Fire Stations before rising to the rank of Watch Commander in the Organisational Intelligence department. With both operational and departmental experience, he transferred to Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue service in February 2023.
Chris joined the Operational Policy team and helped shape the Service’s policies, procedures and operational learning for 18 months before taking his first step into Middle Management, taking charge of Fire Control in September 2024. Overseeing Fire Control has been a really rewarding role that has required a lot of the skills acquired in the Royal Navy.
“The Fire Service is a fantastic career to pursue after the military. The discipline and integrity that the military gives you puts you in a great position to flourish in the Fire Service”
