Request

Dear Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request the following information regarding wildfire incidents in Worcestershire County:

  1. The total number of wildfires recorded per year, from 1980 to 2024, or for as far back as records are available.
  2. For each wildfire, if possible, please include a rough location (e.g. town, area name, or postcode sector).

For the purpose of this request, a wildfire is defined as an uncontrolled fire that spreads rapidly through areas of vegetation, such as forests, grasslands, and brushland. These fires can be caused by natural events like lightning or human activity.

Along with this, if similar information could be provided for the number of floods within the county over the same time period, that would be most helpful. But if not, would you know where I could find this information?

This data will be used to support my Master’s dissertation at the University of Reading, which focuses on regional climate risks and resilience planning in Worcestershire county.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require any clarification.

Yours sincerely,

Response
