Thank you for the prompt response to my request under the Freedom of Information Act, could I ask for clarification to the following answers provided?
Q.1 thank you for providing the list of the 8 vehicles sold at auction via Brightwells, are you charged a fee for each disposal or is any fees deducted from the funds that the vehicles sell for such as commission or transport costs, how is vat accounted for when vehicles are sold on your behalf?
Q. 2 “Does your fire service have a policy or documentation on the disposal of fire service vehicles and their resale, including to private fire operators, other fire services and charities? National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) and the Transport Officers Group (TOG) guidance are followed.“
Please could you provide a copy of the guidance from the National Fire Chiefs Council and the Transport Officers Group.
Q. 3 “Does your service have a policy on removing markings from vehicles sold at auction and removing blue lights and emergency warning systems? If so, please provide a copy of the policy or any related documentation. …All vehicles are decommissioned before leaving workshops to be sold.“
You referred to the vehicles being decommissioned, what do you mean by decommissioning, what items are removed prior to sale from the vehicle, as an example – Lightbars (Blue Lights).
Q. 8. “Could you please provide a copy of your current fleet list and disposal criteria? Our fleet is listed on the attached spreadsheet…“
The fleet list you provided doesn’t appear to show any van’s cars or other similar vehicles blue light vehicles, could you provide a copy of the relevant fleet list which includes cars and vans and similar vehicles owned or operated by your service?

Further details as requested are:

Brightwells do not charge us fees, they apply VAT on the sale price.
Q. 2 Please could you provide a copy of the guidance from the National Fire Chiefs Council and the Transport Officers Group.
TOG documents are confidential. The National Fire Chiefs Council guidance can be found at the following link: Vehicle and equipment safety – NFCC.

All logos, communication equipment and all blue lights & sirens are removed.
Q. 8. The fleet list you provided doesn’t appear to show any van’s cars or other similar vehicles blue light vehicles, could you provide a copy of the relevant fleet list which includes cars and vans and similar vehicles owned or operated by your service?
They are included on a separate tab of the attached spreadsheet.
