Dear Information Governance Team,
I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act.
- Officer numbers (2000–2024)
For each year from 2000 to 2024, or as far back as records allow, please provide the total number of uniformed officers, broken down by rank:
- Chief Fire Officer
- Deputy Chief Fire Officer
- Assistant Chief Fire Officer
- Area Commander
- Group Commander
- Station Commander
- Watch Commander (if classed as officer)
- Any other officer grades used historically
If rank titles have changed over time, please include the equivalent roles so that the timeline remains comparable.
- Firefighter numbers (2000–2024)
For the same years, please provide:
- Number of wholetime firefighters
- Number of on-call firefighters
- Number of control staff (if recorded as uniformed)
- Total uniformed personnel
For each year, please provide the total number of uniformed personnel (officers, firefighters and control staff combined). - Earlier data (optional)
If data exists prior to 2000 and can be retrieved within appropriate cost limits, please include those earlier years as well. - Format requested
Please provide the information in a simple table or spreadsheet format with one row per year.

We thank you for your request for information, which has been received by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (the Service) and considered under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.
