Fatality following a fire in Kidderminster

At approximately 2:21am this morning (19 April), Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to a fire at a residential property in Kidderminster.

At approximately 2:21am this morning (19 April), Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to a fire at a residential property in Kidderminster.

Three fire engines were swiftly dispatched and crews tackled the fire using hose reel jets. West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident.

Sadly, an elderly woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A fire investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway however at this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.

Group Commander Samantha Pink said: “This was a very unfortunate incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

“Incidents like this are a reminder for everyone to ensure they have working smoke alarms on each level of their home and test them on a regular basis.”
