Officers from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service joined emergency service colleagues from West Mercia Police and the ambulance service for an inspiring carol service in Worcester Cathedral last night (Tuesday 20 December)
Chief Fire Officer Jon Pryce and Chief Constable Pippa Mills (pictured at Worcester Cathedral) joined the hundreds-strong congregation at the special Blue Light Carol Service, for an evening of readings and carols sung by the Cathedral Chamber Choir.
The special service, organised by The High Sheriff of Worcestershire, was an opportunity for the fire service and other emergency services, and other organisations that support Worcestershire communities to come together for an evening of celebration and reflection.
Chief Constable Pippa Mills, accompanied by the Chief Fire Officer, said:
“The service was a wonderful way to start Christmas week and a joyful event for everyone who came along. I was honoured to be there with our fire and ambulance colleagues and people from organisations that all play a vital part in helping keep our communities safe. It was heart-warming to see so many people getting into the festive spirit in our first shared event since the Covid-19 pandemic.”
PCC John Campion said: “I was pleased to attend this year’s carol service in the beautiful setting of Worcester Cathedral that saw emergency service workers come together for an evening of festive celebrations and reflection.”
The Chief Fire Officer said: “It was a superb evening and great to see so many people. The Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir treated us all to some amazing carols.”
