Four Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Hereford and one each from Leominster and Fownhope Fire Stations – plus the incident command unit from Malvern were called at 10:58 on 7 May to a fire in Commercial Street, Hereford.

The fire involved a catering unit and was extinguished by four fighters wearing breathing apparatus and using three hosereel jets.

“The catering unit was destroyed and there’s some cosmetic damage due to heat on nearby buildings,” said Group Commander Dave Swallow.

“But we have worked hard with Herefordshire Council, the Showmen’s Guild and Police to resolve the issue and it’s now business as usual for the May Fair.”
