Head of Operations
What does your job involve?
As Head of Operations, I have responsibility for operational service delivery through the three districts and the 27 fire stations in the Service.
When did you start working for the Service?
I started my career in 1994 serving as a retained firefighter at Hereford Fire Station. I realised quite quickly that I had an aptitude for the job and enjoyed the varied work, leading me to join the Service as a wholetime employee in 1997. Since then I have worked on a number of stations and undertaken various office based roles. Prior to my role as Head of Operations, I managed Operational Policy, Fire Control, Health and Safety, Intel and Emergency Planning
Why do you like working for HWFRS?
I enjoy working with like minded people who have a aspiration to serve the public and deliver a first class fire and rescue service. Having started as a retained firefighter, I enjoy the mix of staff we have and believe the diverse make up helps make it a great fire and rescue service to work within.
What interests do you have outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, skiing (when the conditions are right), and have a keen interest in motorsport.
