    In the early hours of this morning (Friday 3 July), Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue (HWFRS) was called to reports of a house fire in Wannerton Road, Blakedown. Two fire engines from Kidderminster attended the incident, which had been caused by a dishwasher that had been left on.

  • Chemical spill in Kidderminster

    On Thursday 2nd July at 12:09pm, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called to reports of a chemical spill at a business in Firs Industrial Estate, Kidderminster. Fire appliances from Kidderminster, Droitwich Spa, Stourport-on-Severn and an Environmental Protection Unit were deployed to the incident, which involved the spillage of approximately 1000 litres of nitric acid.

  • Arson incidents in Kidderminster

    Wednesday 01 July 2015

    Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service attended four incidents in the Comberton area of Kidderminster in the early hours of Sunday 28th June. All of these incidents appear to have been started deliberately inside wheelie bins. The last of these incidents (in the Tennyson Way area) spread along a line of bushes towards a house.

  • Flat fire in Hereford

    Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire in a flat above a shop on Whitecross Road, Hereford at 02:35 on Tuesday morning (30th June). Four fire appliances from Hereford (2), Fownhope and Ewyas Harold were deployed to the incident and on arrival fire fighters were faced with a severe fire that had engulfed the first floor flat and the roof.

  • Fire service incidents attended in 2014-15 are the lowest ever recorded

    At the quarterly meeting on 17th June, Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority received its Annual Performance Report which revealed that the number of fire service incidents attended within Herefordshire and Worcestershire has continued to fall, with last year's 6,112 incidents being the lowest the Service has recorded since records began. There has been a 25 percent fall in incidents since 2010-11 with the Service responding to 3,000 fewer incidents than it did just over ten years ago.

  • Metal recycling centre fire

    Friday 19 June 2015

    Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to a fire at a metal recycling centre on Blackpole Trading Estate West at 20.34 on Tuesday (16th June). Six fire appliances from Worcester, Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Upton were deployed to the incident, supported by a specialist foam unit, water carrier, environmental protection unit, aerial appliance and a hazardous materials officer.
